Support For Relocating Rail Lines High in Manitoba
Winnipeg – A majority of Manitobans support the idea of relocating Winnipeg’s rail lines outside the city, but most are extremely skeptical that this will ever happen, a new Probe Research survey conducted for the Winnipeg Free Press shows.
Nearly six-in-ten Manitobans support moving the CP and CN
rail lines outside Winnipeg (59%, including 27% who strongly agree) compared to
one-quarter (23%) who strongly or moderately oppose moving the rail lines in
principle. However, only seven percent of those surveyed believe that rail line
relocation is “very likely” to happen, with nearly one-half of Manitoba adults (48%)
indicating that this undertaking is not very or not all likely to happen.
