Crowded Political Field Opens Door For Wasylycia-Leis
Winnipeg – In a crowded field of potential candidates for Winnipeg’s next mayor, a single left of center contender breaks away from the pack with a direct path to Winnipeg’s top political office.
A city-wide telephone survey of 605 adults taken earlier this month by Probe Research Inc. for the Winnipeg Free Press shows that Judy Wasylycia-Leis is the prospective front-runner on a hypothetical mayoral ballot that includes four other challengers from the centre-right of the political spectrum. The survey also shows that current Mayor Sam Katz would face a steep uphill climb in the event he chooses to seek re-election in next year’s civic vote.
