Ex-NDP Supporters Are Up For Grabs
Winnipeg – At this time two years ago, 46 percent of Manitoba voters cast ballots for Premier Greg Selinger’s New Democratic Party. During the past 24 months, support for the NDP has plummeted to near-historic lows as the opposition Progressive Conservatives vaulted into first place and the long-moribund Liberal Party surged to double-digit levels of support.
These shifting dynamics of voter support since the 2011 election are highlighted in the results of a new Probe Research survey provided exclusively to the Winnipeg Free Press. This survey shows that ex-NDP voters have migrated in different directions since the 2011 vote, with near-equal proportions joining the PC or Liberal camps. A significant proportion of these former NDP supporters (10%), however, remain up for grabs as they are officially undecided.
