Winnipeggers Are Open To Tax Increases
Winnipeg
– There is an old saying is that the only guarantees in life are death and
taxes. A new Winnipeg Free Press-CTV
Winnipeg survey conducted by Probe Research Inc. reveals that a majority of
Winnipeggers agree that municipal tax increases must rise to maintain city
services.
This
survey of 602 Winnipeg adults, conducted between September 18 and October 1,
shows that nearly two-thirds of Winnipeggers agree that property tax increases
are “inevitable” in order to maintain basic services (64%, including 30% who
strongly agree and 34% who moderately disagree). One-third of those surveyed,
on the other hand, believe that the city can maintain its core services without
tax increases (34%, including 20% who strongly disagree and 14% who moderately
disagree). Two percent of those surveyed were unsure or did not respond.
