Winnipeg - Six-in-ten Manitobans (60%) oppose allowing the so-called "Greyhound bus killer" Vince Li short, escorted walks outside the Selkirk Mental Health Centre where is being held in custody, a new Probe Research Inc. survey for the Winnipeg Free Press finds.

Indeed, not only do most Manitobans oppose these types of escorted furloughs, but a majority of Manitobans (55%) support changing the Criminal Code so that those who have been found not criminally responsible of killing another person remain in mental health institutions for life. This includes 35 percent who strongly support writing such a condition into the Criminal Code and 20 percent who moderately support this change. Approximately four-in-ten Manitobans, on the other hand, oppose this measure (38%, including 22% strongly opposed).

Winnipeg – No matter where they live in the province, Manitobans feel strongly that four remote First Nations communities in northern Manitoba deserve nothing less than immediate infrastructure upgrades so that people living in these areas can finally have running water in their homes.

A survey conducted for the Winnipeg Free Press by Probe Research Inc. finds that three-quarters of Manitobans (78%) agree that these four communities should move to the front of the line for infrastructure upgrades, with more than one-half (55%) strongly agreeing that citizens of these communities deserve to have running water right away. Fewer than one-in-five Manitobans disagreed that these communities should be hooked up to running water right away (17%, including 10% who strongly disagree). Five percent were undecided or did not provide a response.
